For Immediate Release:

Minnesota Lake Country microbrewery and taproom owners announce their retirement.

NISSWA, Minnesota — (November 26, 2018) – After four years of spirited brew production, Mark and Barb Anderson, owners of Gull Dam Brewing Co, have announced their plan to retire.

Gull Dam Brewing opened in October 2014 when the Anderson’s hosted one of the biggest grand openings for a new business in the history of Nisswa as over 3,000 excited beer enthusiasts attended the long anticipated Oktoberfest event. Instantly Gull Dam Brewing conveyed a major commercial impact upon the local economy and soon became well known for good times, live music, exceptional craft beer and the slogan “I need a Gull Dam beer!”

Reflecting back on the past four years, “This was a fun venture, our beer is world class and Mark and I have met so many wonderful people at the brewery,” said Barb Anderson. In addition to taproom and beer garden sales, Gull Dam beer has been distributed to over 330 bars, restaurants and liquor stores. Gull Dam Brewing is listed on Trip Advisor® as #2 of the “Top Things To Do” in Nisswa. One little known bit of Gull Dam trivia, Hollywood actor/celebrity Kevin Sorbo aka Hercules, is a minority shareholder of the company.

The Anderson’s wish to thank their employees for their hard work, dedication to quality and customer service. They especially would like to thank their customers for their loyal support, continuous patronage and wonderful friendships. Finally, they would like to thank their master brewer Doug Stoffer, to whom all credit goes for the exceptional Gull Dam beer he created. Doug has brewed around the world and has won numerous brewing medals – from 2 continents – which highlight his achievements in the competitive craft beer world.

Saturday, December 29th, the Anderson’s are planning a huge retirement party in the Gull Dam Taproom featuring The Lamont Cranston Band. “It’s the perfect ending,” said Mark, “the same legendary band that opened the brewery, returning for the finale.”

Monday, December 31, New Year’s Eve Day will be the final day the taproom will be open. Plans are to sell the business. In their retirement, Mark & Barb look forward to spending more time together as well as with family and friends.

“Cheers! And thanks for your Gull Dam support!”
